CCA is expanding its existing agreement with the IRS to obtain federal tax information ("FTI") for all CCA member communities. CCA has been successfully utilizing FTI on behalf of the city of Cleveland for the past 18 years.
This long-running program is now expanding to all CCA member communities as a result of the passage of the Tax Relief and Healthcare Act of 2006. Prior to this law change, federal law allowed the IRS to share confidential taxpayer information only with governments with populations in excess of 250,000.
What this means to CCA member municipalities |

The expansion of CCA's agreement with the IRS to all CCA communities significantly enhances CCA's existing compliance and audit programs for all CCA members. Utilization of FTI on behalf of Cleveland has increased both compliance and revenues. CCA is excited that it is expanding this powerful partnership with the IRS to all CCA members. The IRS information sharing program requires strict compliance with FTI safeguard procedures. Safeguarding FTI and protecting taxpayer privacy are of paramount concern to both CCA and the IRS. CCA has complied with all IRS FTI requirements during the past 18 years, and was recently commended by the IRS for the level of security it provides FTI. |
